I am currently in Post Production with my personal documentary about a group of Ohio teachers, who travel to China & their Chinese counterparts, who travel to America.
Rio Grande has a cooperative agreement with the BaoJi University in BaoJi, China, and is offering its master of education in classroom teaching program to the students there. The program, which is recognized for its focus on the theory of multiple intelligences, attracted the interest of BaoJi University.
The master of education in classroom teaching program is set up so students can take classes on-line during the school year and then take classes at Rio Grande in the summer. The BaoJi students have been taking the on-line classes with the rest of the Rio Grande students, which has improved the program for both the American and Chinese students. The students from both countries have become friends, and have helped each other learn.
From June 10 - 22, 2007, 13 Rio Grande faculty, students & family members traveled to Beijing, X'ian and BaoJi. On June 16, they arrived in BaoJi and spent 5 days sharing their conversational English with students from elementary to college level.
25 of the students from China and one of the officials from the BaoJi University traveled to America on July 26. During the first three days of their trip, the members of the group stayed as guests in the homes of several of the Rio Grande faculty members and local teachers. Several of the host families visited China in recent years.
On July 29, the students reconvened on the Rio Grande campus and then spent nine days on campus taking part in classes and other activities.
During their stay in America, they also traveled to Washington, D.C., New York City, Los Angeles & San Francisco.
